Via Families is a social network based on trust, sincerity and with the purpose of doing favors to other families in exchange for favor that they can do for you. A favor for a favor.

Hence the advice that we give is logical and practical. We know that you would already apply it, yet here we would like to give you a few tips

Courtesy and politeness

Politeness opens all doors. Being honest is crucial and ask all the question you may have regarding any theme is always important, but always politely without hurting

As you get to know a family, you might realize that it is not the right choice for you. Be polite when you say goodbye to them. Any correct and polite farewell leaves you open perhaps to other relationships.

The same applies to you if you host a student or if you are hosted.

Mutual respect

Every family is different, but values, lifestyle, priorities, etc.are the most important. If at any time you do not like something aboutthe guest you have at home, it is best to be respectful. Respect on both side makes living and sharing together must easier. You might have some differences, but if the basic respect is maintained it will be easy.

Sincerity

We have to assume that all families are different, you should never lie aboutyou family to please more. Deceiving or telling half truths brings benefits to no one. It is certain you will find more families like yours by being sincere rather than lying. Also there is nothing worse than feeling cheated.

Commitment

When one accepts a guest for a period of time, this requires a strong commitment up to the end. We are talking about people that are counting on our hospitality. Our commitment is to care and give affection. Keep in mind that the person that is in your house expects trust, warmth, comfort, understanding and hospitality.

Empathy

Whether you send a member of your family, or if you receive a guest you must “put yourself in their shoes.

How do you feel? What worries you?

Everyone has a right to feel doubts, fears, insecurities, etc.

Reassure the other family, it is important to have empathy and expect the same reassurance from them.

"Step into the shoes" of the other parent, remember they are entrusting us with their most valued children. We must care for the guest as son or daughter of our own. Not to mention the parents! Make them partakers of the children's routines or events.
