Hi, I'm Letisha.

I'm a 19-year-old high school graduate from Kenya who grew up in the United States. I plan on studying in Cergy, France, from September this year, and found this website while searching for potential host families. 

The idea of staying with a host family appealed to me not only because of affordabiity, but also the opportunity to experience a different way of life and expose myself to new cultures and a new language. I've never been to continental Europe, so I'm really excited to get the chance to find out more about life in France while I study!

Regarding accommodation needs, it would be extremely beneficial to stay somewhere very close to the university for ease of commute. I come from a pretty quiet home (I'm an only child and live with my parents and cat) so a homestay with a comfortable room that enables me to study somewhere quietly would be great. That being said, I can handle a busier home as long as there's a room where I can study when I need to. I don't have any allergies and love animals, so pets are cool with me; I'm also okay with children aged 10 and above.

Aside from some very occasional seafood, I don't eat meat but I can stay with an omnivorous family as long as I can maintain my mostly vegetarian diet. I enjoy cooking and am willing to help out in the kitchen! I can also help look after any pets if needed.

Although the university program is taught in English, I'm keen on learning as much French as I can during my stay and hope to be really proficient by the time the I finish the program in 2020, so it would be awesome to stay with a French-speaking family who's willing to help me learn as my experience with the language is decidedly pretty limited. I pick up words and phrases in other languages very quicky but at this time I'm only fluent in English. I'm more than willing to help teach anyone in the family who's interested in learning or perfecting their English. 

A home with a WiFi connection would be ideal for study purposes, and for Skype calls with my parents. 

As far as hobbies go, I'm a fairly "indoorsy" person and am content with my laptop, phone, and some fiction novels or science magazines.
