WHO WE ARE

WHO WE ARE:
We have at least four children (through birth, through adoption, or through foster care).
We cannot possibly fit our family (and all of our car safety seats!) into a Fiat 500.
Our houses are full to the brim with bunk beds, highchairs, booster chairs, tricycles and bicycles. We spend more than the average family in school fees, schoolbooks, Christmas presents and birthday presents. Our friends seldom invite us for dinner because they cannot fit all of us into their houses.
When one of us catches the flu or conjunctivitis, we are pretty sure the rest of the family will fall ill soon.
We cannot afford to go to the movies because it would cost too much to book all those seats.
Yet, despite these difficulties, we lead amazing and colourful lives, full of mirth and cuddles, laughter and happiness, prayer and consolation, comfort and dialogue.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DO:
We feel a strong urge to give birth to a “family of families”. A family where each of us has a role and everyone carries it out with love, patience and solidarity. We would like to get in touch, to tell our stories, to share ideas and thoughts. We would like to help each other out. We would like to create buying groups, time banks, and used-clothes exchanges. We would like to share information about what local and regional governments are doing in favour of large families. Thus, we could extend good practises to let more and more large families lead a more dignified life.
We would like to suggest fiscal improvements both locally and on a national level. Some taxes and fees, like electricity, gas, water consumption, and waste disposal, as well as some services (bus passes, school canteens, school trips and school fees) seem to have been studied on purpose to punish us for having given Italy an important present: our wonderful children!

WE WOULD LIKE TO DEFEND AND IMPROVE THE RIGHTS OF LARGE FAMILIES:
We would like to support the active and responsible participation of families in the cultural, social, and political life of our country.
We would like to support and improve policies that help families, policies that acknowledge the social and educational role that the family has within society.
We would like to make our voice heard.
We would like to say that we exist, and that we are happy to be here!
